Here we are going to talk about brake fluid and why you should get your levels checked at our car garage pictured below.
A recent study showed that 1 in 2 motorists are driving around with braking systems that are not effective. 29% of these motorist’s brakes were so badly damaged or worn that every single day they drove the vehicle out on the road they were risking their lives and the lives of others.
So, testing brake fluid is very important and you shouldn’t let it become a silent killer. Here are a few reasons why you should test the brake fluid.
Reason number 1
Brake fluid is purposely designed to be resistant to huge heat and high temperatures. Brake fluid however absorbs water over time and reduces the brake fluid resistance to heat leading brake fluid to vaporise and run out.
Reason number 2
Brace yourself this is a scary reason. Have you ever been in a situation where the brakes sometimes work, then sometimes don’t or are very ineffective. Well this is known as ghost brakes. Brake fluid can turn into vapor due to high temperature levels before restoring itself back to brake fluid, when this happens brakes either work or they don’t.
Reason number 3
Brake fluid can turn to vapor. When you apply the brake pedal the pedal can stick to the floor causing a lock, if your brakes lock then you don’t have control of the vehicle which can lead to bumps out on the road compromising safety for yourself and others.
Getting brake fluid levels checked
These three reasons should be reason enough to ensure that you test your brake fluid levels. Brake fluid testing only takes 5 minutes and we firmly believe that it is better to be safe than sorry.
