We are going to continue to look at the German manufactured cars we service from our garage here in Cardiff shown below.
This time though we are going to look at the Volkswagen cars we service. Here are six vehicles in the garage up on the ramps having lots of different car service work carried out on them.
We start off with a Volkswagen vehicle pictured below.
The owner brought the Volkswagen car to the garage as he was having problems selecting gears when out on the road. We stripped the gearbox down and could straight away see what the problems were. The teeth on the cogs had eroded and warn, as the photos show below.
To solve the problem we reconditioned the gearbox and refitted it to the Volkswagen vehicle. This solved the problem and the owner was back out on the road being able to select gears perfectly.
Here we look at a Volkswagen car that was having its wheels and tracking re-aligned, the Volkswagen vehicle is pictured below.
The Volkswagen car was veering left and sometimes to the right when driving out on the road in a straight line. We found that the car wheels needed realigning. Because we have a dedicated ramp for German manufactured vehicles like Volkswagens we can offer better more reliable vehicle servicing for German cars.
Pictured below we have a Volkswagen Golf TDI.
The car owner brought the Volkswagen car to the garage after experiencing clutch problems. The clutch was slipping when selecting gears. We checked out the clutch and could see that the clutch was very warn. We let the customer know and the best way to solve the problem would be to install a new clutch which we did. The car is now back out on the road with a new clutch and working perfectly selecting gears.
The Volkswagen vehicle shown below was experiencing steering problems.
The funny thing about this situation was we thought that it would probably be the steering column or the wheels had become misaligned. However it was found that it was the actual front brakes causing the steering problems. The brakes were not releasing against the wheel when applied which was causing the vehicle to turn more to the right side of the road. We advised the customer of the problem and we replaced the brakes solving the problem.
Pictured below we have a Volkswagen Passat.
Earlier on in this article we showed you how we can repair manual gearboxes for Volkswagen vehicles. However we are also more than capable of repairing automatic Volkswagen gearboxes as well. We stripped the automatic gearbox of the Volkswagen Passat shown above and could see the teeth on the cogs were wearing causing the problems when selecting gears. We made the repairs and the vehicle is back out on the road running smoothly.
Lastly we look at a Volkswagen vehicle shown below having turbo problems.
This vehicle was having problems with white smoke coming from the exhaust in large amounts. The vehicle was experiencing lack of power a classic sign you have a turbo problem. We replaced the turbo and this solved all the problems including lack of power.
