Next up in the garage we have a Honda Civic in one of our vehicle bays.

The ABS light lit up on the dashboard. What does ABS stand for? It stands for “anti-locking braking system”. If you have never heard of an anti-locking braking system, then let’s explain what it is.
The anti-locking braking system is a system designed to prevent your vehicle wheels from locking up, it is also designed for your wheels to maintain grip when braking out on the road. The system is a safety feature of the vehicle because in the event of your vehicle locking its wheels you will be left with no control of your steering increasing the chance of your vehicle skidding.
The ABS sensors are situated on each wheel. If one becomes faulty then your ABS warning light will light up on the dash. The Honda Civic pictured above in this case had a faulty sensor and all we had to do was replace the sensor.
Other indications you have an ABS fault are things like your brakes are locking, the brakes are heavy, the brake pedal feels spongy or there are grinding noises coming from the wheels. Whichever sign is present it means you must get immediate vehicle maintenance on your brakes to remain safe out on the road.
Our mechanics have a combined 75 years vehicle maintenance experience amongst each other. When you leave your vehicle with us it is in the safest of hands. So get in touch today.
