A1 Diagnostics provides professional BMW servicing, diagnostics and repairs from our independent garage in Cardiff. From routine oil and filter changes to manufacturer-based servicing and investigation of complex electronic faults, our technicians can help maintain your BMW’s performance, reliability and safety.
Modern BMW vehicles use Condition Based Service information to monitor selected maintenance requirements. The service displayed by the vehicle can depend on time, mileage, operating conditions and data calculated by the onboard systems.
Before carrying out the service, we can check the vehicle’s registration, mileage and displayed maintenance information to identify the work that is currently due.
Our workshop is located on Sloper Road near Cardiff City Stadium, serving BMW owners from Leckwith, Canton, Grangetown, Riverside, Ely, Fairwater and communities throughout Cardiff and South Wales.
Servicing requirements vary according to the model, engine, age, mileage and operating conditions. Many modern BMW vehicles display maintenance information through the Condition Based Service system.
Condition Based Service monitors selected maintenance items and displays when attention may be required. Depending on the vehicle, this can include engine oil, brake fluid, brake pads and vehicle inspections.
The work depends on what is due. It may include engine oil and filter replacement, additional filters, spark plugs, brake fluid, safety inspections, diagnostic checks and a service-indicator reset.
No. The correct oil grade and specification depend on the particular BMW engine and model. The vehicle should be identified before oil is selected.
Yes, the relevant service indicator can normally be reset after the required maintenance has been completed. Resetting the indicator without completing the service does not maintain the vehicle.
This depends on the vehicle, system compatibility and available authorised access. A1 Diagnostics should confirm this before the service. Customers should also receive suitable documentation of the completed work.
An independent garage with appropriate technical information, equipment and suitable parts can service many BMW vehicles. Customers with a manufacturer or third-party warranty should check its current servicing and documentation conditions.
Warranty conditions can vary. Servicing should follow the applicable manufacturer schedule and use suitable parts and fluids. Check the terms of your particular warranty before booking.
Not necessarily. A suitably equipped independent specialist can complete many routine servicing and repair procedures. Certain recalls, warranty repairs or manufacturer-controlled processes may still require an authorised BMW retailer.
A1 Diagnostics can service many BMW petrol and diesel models. Provide the registration number so the correct engine, parts and maintenance requirements can be confirmed.
A1 Diagnostics can assess servicing requirements for supported BMW hybrid models. Certain high-voltage procedures require specialist training, equipment and safety precautions.
A1 Diagnostics can assess servicing and repair requirements for supported BMW M vehicles. These models may require specific oils, parts and maintenance procedures.
The available work depends on the model and service required. Electric vehicles still require inspections of brakes, tyres, suspension, cooling systems, cabin filters and other components, but high-voltage work requires specific capability.
Yes. A1 Diagnostics can investigate many engine, transmission, ABS, airbag, battery, emissions and driver-assistance warnings. A fault code is treated as the starting point for diagnosis rather than automatic proof that a component has failed.
Yes, battery registration is available for many BMW models. If a different battery specification is installed, the vehicle may also require coding.
A1 Diagnostics can assess servicing requirements for supported BMW automatic transmissions. The correct fluid, filter, filling procedure and temperature checks depend on the gearbox fitted.
Provide the registration number, current mileage, dashboard service information and details of any warning lights or problems. If possible, explain when the vehicle was last serviced and what work was completed.

The work included in a BMW service depends on the vehicle and the maintenance items that are due. A1 Diagnostics can provide routine servicing based on the applicable vehicle information rather than using the same checklist for every BMW.
Depending on the model and service required, work may include:
1. Engine oil and oil-filter replacement
2. Air-filter inspection or replacement
3. Cabin or microfilter replacement
4. Fuel-filter replacement where applicable
5. Spark-plug replacement on applicable petrol engines
6. Brake-fluid replacement
7. Coolant checks
8. Brake pad and disc inspection
9. Tyre condition and pressure checks
10. Steering and suspension inspection
11. Fluid-level checks
12. Exterior lighting checks
13. Drive-belt inspection
14. Battery and charging-system checks
15. Diagnostic system scan
16. Inspection for visible leaks
17. Service-indicator reset
18. Road test where appropriate
Here at A1 Diagnostics we ensure the correct grade and specification of engine oil is used for specific BMW engines.
BMW’s Condition Based Service system can display maintenance requirements for items such as:
1. Engine oil
2. Brake fluid
3. Front brake pads
4. Rear brake pads
5. Vehicle inspection
6. Statutory vehicle inspection information where configured
7. Other model-specific maintenance items
The dashboard display is useful, but it should not replace physical inspections or checks against the vehicle’s applicable maintenance information. We check both the fault code and physically inspect the vehicle on arrival at the garage.

Servicing provides an opportunity to identify developing wear, leaks and maintenance requirements before they become more serious. A1 Diagnostics combines routine BMW maintenance with mechanical repairs, electrical diagnosis and control-module programming from the same Cardiff workshop.
Additional BMW services may include:
1. BMW diagnostic testing
2. Engine-management fault diagnosis
3. Vehicle electrical fault finding
4. Battery registration
5. Battery and charging-system testing

Many BMW vehicles use intelligent battery-management systems. When a replacement battery is fitted, the vehicle may require the new battery to be registered. If the battery type or capacity changes, additional coding may also be required. We can code the battery here at the garage.
A dashboard warning or diagnostic trouble code does not automatically confirm which component needs replacing. Further testing may involve live-data analysis, electrical measurements, physical inspections and checking communication between vehicle control modules. We have all the equipment needed to carry out full diagnostic testing.
A1 Diagnostics can upload all service work carried out on your vehicle to the BMW manufacturers record meaning all work can be tracked for future reference.
