Gearbox enquiries are coming in thick and fast. Over the past three days we have had all kinds of gearbox related problems being reported by motorists at our garage pictured below. What we are going to focus on now however are weather conditions that cause gearbox problems. With the autumn months and the winter months approaching did you know colder weather conditions can cause gearbox wear and tear, but how?

In the autumn and winter gearboxes can be exposed to cold if not freezing temperatures. The colder it is means it takes longer for the engine and gearbox components to warm up, this can lead to harsher gear changes leading to wear and tear on the gears in the gearbox.
