In the 2nd quarter of this year used car sales more than doubled from April to June 2021. The reason for the increase is because there is a current shortage of semiconductor fuel parts. The reason for the shortage is because of the knock-on effect of the coronavirus pandemic, the lifting of restrictions has led to a sharp increase in people wanting to purchase new and used vehicles.

This has forced vehicle purchasers to look at used cars. The managing director of SMMT Mike Hawkes has said the increase in demand has come about because the lifting of restrictions in the United Kingdom. People returning to work from furlough are weary about using public transport as they feel the coronavirus is still prevalent and transmissible on public transport. Safety comes first in the public’s eyes.
