We have read research that Green Flag have carried out. They discovered that 3.6million vehicles were still driving out on the road with an expired MOT certificate. This means in the first 6 months of 2024 there were 3.6 million vehicles out on the road that could be hazardous having dangerous faults on the vehicle. WOW.

Green Flag also found that a third of drivers who drove on the road believed that it is legal to drive without an MOT certificate, as long as the test was booked in with a garage. This is not true, you’re only allowed to drive to domestic locations if you have an in date and valid MOT certificate. If you get caught without one you could face a £1000 fine. The only time you can drive on the road with an expired MOT certificate is when you are on your way to the garage to put your vehicle through its MOT.
