We have just heard of another MOT horror story.

According to the BBC an MOT tester was issuing MOT certificates without even seeing the vehicles. In total 223 MOT certificates were issued.

Yesterday we wrote about research carried out by Halfords. They estimate there are 1.2 million vehicles on the road that do not have an MOT certificate. That is bad enough, but to hear that there are vehicles on the road that have MOT certificates and have never been inspected is very dangerous to motorists and to members of the general public.

This event took place in 2023. What brought attention to this matter was the fact MOT test inspections were taking less than 5 minutes. We can assure you MOT test inspections take longer than 5 minutes, they can infact last for up to an hour. If you have been given an MOT certificate in less than 5 minutes, then think whether your vehicle has been inspected properly and thoroughly.
