This vehicle was in the garage experiencing a park brake fault. The brake has become locked and would not release. What caused this problem? On diagnosis of the vehicle, we could see that the actuator had become faulty. The electrical wires had become exposed to the environmental elements when out on the road and corroded the circuitry, this caused the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system to fail.
We replaced the wiring and ensured on installation they were properly lubricated. Lubricating the wiring ensures that the wires are coated offering protection from dust elements on the road. This prevents corrosion. We cleaned the actuator of any existing dust and grime build up and re-calibrated the parking brake. The vehicles park brake system is now working exactly how it should be and the vehicle is now back with the owner ship shape.
