A few months ago, we wrote about The Department for Transport and how they are going to make MOT checks much stricter. The debate is still rumbling on months later with The Mirror, Bristol Live, and GB news all talking about these new regulations that could be rolled out by The Department for Transport for MOT testing.

One vehicle we had in the garage last week had over 35 driver assisted systems on the vehicle, or more commonly known as ADAS. ADAS systems are driver assisted systems that help motorists drive their cars, from speed controls, parking sensors and so much more.

ADAS systems are not currently part of an MOT test, but they soon could be. Why? Purely because ADAS systems are being used more and more by motorists and are considered a big factor in vehicle safety, meaning they to must work safely and soundly in vehicles ensuring the drivers and general public safety. No decision has been made yet but The Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety has recommended to the government that ADAS checks should be mandatory in MOT testing.
