We have said it time and again that we are specialists at diagnosing faults on the most modern-day vehicles, and here is a classic example. We recently carried out work on an Audi RS4 complete with a V8 engine.

The vehicle was experiencing engine problems, the engine management light came on and the vehicle was losing power out on the road. On inspection we could see the V8 engine was overheating because of a lack of coolant.

The over heating caused the water pump to fail, without the water pump working effectively pumping coolant into the engine to cool it meant the engine had no protection from the heat it was generating. This caused the engine to overheat and a complete lack of power. Here are photos of the Audi RS4 vehicle on one of our ramps.

We continue to say it avoid backstreet garages at all costs. If the owner of the Audi RS4 went to a backstreet garage could you be sure they would know how to diagnose this modern-day vehicle. Firstly, you would have to ask do they have the technology to diagnose overheating engines.

How we found out the Audi RS4 V8 engine was overheating was because we carried out a pressure test on the engine. To perform a test of this kind you must have the technology to do that, but not only the technology but the latest technology that can be used on modern day vehicles. Do backstreet garages have this capability to diagnose the fault of an engine such as the V8 pictured below and get to the heart of the issue.

Because we were able to work out the pressure levels inside the engine this meant we could see what the problem was, it was clear that the RS4 pressure levels were low, which led us to believe that there was a fault with the engines water pump. The water pump was the problem, so we replaced it and it solved the engine overheating issues.
