Keeping your vehicle in good health has a number of aspects. Some are up to the driver – driving style can account for more issues than you’d think! Others require the car to be maintained well by the mechanics who perform routine services and condition checks.

Servicing on a Jaguar, as for most cars, is recommended at regular milestones, dependent on either the age of the car or its milage. When one of these milestones is reached, we recommend brining your vehicle in so that we can conduct the necessary checks and make sure your car is still operating in full health.

Milestones are easy to remember because they’re all multiples of 6! At a basic level, every 6 months or 6,000 miles an ‘interim’ service is recommended, where core fluids like brake fluid and coolants are monitored, engine oils can be checked, and oil filters replaced if necessary. Alongside this, we conduct routine safety checks, including head and rear lights, visual inspections of the brake system, and tyre health checks, e.g. tread and pressure.

These standard checks make sure we keep the show on the road. After that comes the full service, recommended every 12 months or 12,000 miles. This covers all the 6 month checks, then goes deeper to check brake pads and discs for wear and degradation, testing of interior safety features including seatbelts and electric windows, handbrake checks and steering reviews, and checking for visible leaks, battery charging rates and the condition of the exhaust.

Sounds exhaustive? We top this off with a 24-month or 24,000 mile service which covers all the steps from the 6- and 12-month services, and includes review and replacement of core components include spark plugs (for petrol engines), hydraulic fluids and transmission fluid. Pretty comprehensive!
