You are probably hearing it everywhere. Potholes are a national crisis! Here at A1 Diagnostics, we are seeing a lot more vehicles needing to come in and have the ADAS systems re-calibrated having gone over a pothole.

Potholes cause serious vibrations to the vehicle. What we are seeing is sensors are being knocked out all over the vehicle, especially sensors that control driver assisted systems. The good news is when you think you have a major problem it might just be a sensor issue, and the sensors need replacing. This is going to be far cheaper than more serious problems. So don’t panic when you see a dash light come up on the dashboard it might be a sensor issue.

For example, here we have an MG vehicle in our ADAS bay getting the radar re-calibrated.

The driver suspected the fault on the radar came when he drove over a pothole he could not avoid. When the motorist was parking the radar was completely out of sync immediately after hitting the pothole.

We recalibrated the radar and the driver is now back out on the road swerving around potholes once more. We are a garage that can be trusted to re-calibrate your driver assisted systems.
