We are having some miserable weather today. Yes, we have enjoyed the sunshine but it is also time to start thinking about the autumn and winter months on the way, and whether your vehicle will need a service during the seasonal change in the weather.

When it is wet and windy the car can be vulnerable to the elements. This is why you should check a number of factors with the vehicle. Here is a list of things you should check when the seasonal weather changes.
Tyre pressures
If your vehicle’s tyres are under inflated then that can be dangerous, in wet weather conditions even more so. Under inflated tyres can overheat and explode, the question is, would you want a tyre blow out on the motorway, the answer is no! It can be very dangerous, and your safety will be put at risk including any passengers such as family or friends.
We have all the equipment needed to properly ensure your tyre pressures are properly inflated and at the necessary pressure they should be. If you think you are having tyre pressure problems, then we can help.
Battery Checks
We have just been through a hot spell of weather, ok it was a bit hit and miss, however hot weather can be why your battery has run flat or even is running flat. The car battery is a very important component of the vehicle, without it, your vehicle would not start, the battery also is responsible for electrical lighting and other important components of the vehicle.
As the autumn nights roll in and the darker night settle back in you are going to need your electrical light system to work properly, they will not function correctly with a flattening battery. You need good lights for safety in the dark and to ensure everyone’s safety out on the road. If you need us to check the battery on the vehicle we can help.
Windscreen Wipers
An obvious component you will need in autumn and winter months are the windscreen wipers. They are especially important in torrential rain conditions especially when travelling on motorways. Now that the summer months are ending you will probably be using the windscreen wipers more and more. If you need them to be checked over or replaced then get in touch we are here to help.
Anti-Freeze and Coolant
It is essential to check whether your Anti-Freeze and coolant levels are topped up. The Anti-Freeze will ensure that water in the engine does not freeze in autumn and winter frosts. If there is no Anti-Freeze in the vehicle then the water inside the engine will freeze and you shouldn’t expect to go anywhere soon.
The coolant levels are to help the engine stay cool and to ensure it doesn’t overheat. If your coolant levels are low then it could mean you have a leak and will need to get that fixed pronto. Engines work harder in the colder weather conditions and produce a lot of heat, therefore coolant is needed to keep them cool which is why it is so important to ensure the levels are topped up.
Light Bulbs
If your lights are not working, it means you could have a faulty light bulb. In the darker nights you will depend on the light bulbs to work properly for the safety of yourself and those around you. If you need a light bulb replaced, we can do that very quickly, servicing the vehicle from our electrical bay.
