10 million motorists took advantage of the government MOT extension during the pandemic. That means there are potentially 10 million vehicles across the UK that are currently un-road worthy. Before these vehicles head back out on the road, they are going to have to get their MOT certificate as the government extension comes to an end.

Because there are such a vast number of vehicle’s that will need an MOT means garages are going to be very busy. Likely there is going to be a huge backlog where garages MOT test lanes will be full to the brim. We are advising all our customers to get in now and plan ahead, getting their vehicle booked in, in a timely manner to avoid disappointment.

What we have seen is motorists contacting us at the last minute saying they need their vehicle MOT certificate, to show the vehicle is road worthy. Motorists are going on holiday and forgetting they need the car to go through an MOT. The problem with this is our MOT test lanes are full and we are on a week’s turnaround to get vehicles through their MOT.

So, the best thing you can do is plan ahead. Get your vehicle into our garage in a timely manner to avoid any long delays. We understand why the government brought in the MOT extension to help during the pandemic, but the 10 million motorists will need to get their vehicle MOT done somewhere and garages will be feeling the strain during the autumn period.
