Over the last 12 months we have been writing a great deal about an engines timing chain component, letting you know all about the symptoms of faulty timing chains and how to keep them ship shape.

Lets looks at an example of a recent timing chain job. The first photo shown below shows an engine where the oil has leaked and caused damage to the timing chain.

You must be ever careful when choosing the oil you use to lubricate the engine and vehicle components. If you use the wrong grade of oil it can leak and do all kinds of damage to the engine from increased mental-on-metal grinding within engine components causing overheating and reduced engine performance.

In the case of the engine above the wrong oil caused the timing chain to stretch and loosen. Resulting in poor engine performance. We however rectified all the problems, cleaned out the engine and replaced the timing chain. We also filled the engine up with the correct graded engine oil to ensure the engines performance. Here is the engine now.
