We are seeing lots of motorists coming into our independent garage with timing chain related issues.

We have seen a lot of Land Rover and Range Rovers recently. Customers have had all kinds of symptoms pointing to a timing chain fault such as, rattling noises coming from inside the engine compartment, not just rattling noises but banging and big clunk sounding noises and vibrations, these are class signs of a timing chain fault.
On further examination of each vehicle in most cases we could see the timing chain had become loose. The loose chain was causing the rattling noise and the large vibrations, as it knocked and damaged other parts of the engine components in the vehicles. Cost’s to repair engines in Land Rover and Range Rover vehicles can be hefty. This is why you should immediately get the vehicle in for an inspection of the timing chain and other engine areas when you suspect you have a problem.
Leaving the vehicle unchecked can lead to more serious consequences. Like needing a complete engine rebuild or replacement engine installed. Another classic sign you have a timing chain fault is simply the engine management light has lit up on your dashboard. We have been reading in the Telegraph that there is some debate when a Land Rover or Range Rover should have its timing chain replaced, on 45,000 miles or over.
Sometimes timing chains can run smoothly for thousands of miles without a hiccup. However, they do need maintenance from time to time. That’s where we come in. We have mechanics with years of experience working on Land Rover and Range Rover models, mechanics who solely work on these models. We invest in mechanics with great experience so that we ensure a reliable timing chain service. Here is a Range Rover that was recently in the garage for a timing chain service.
