A Mercedes owner who came to our garage with the following fault codes.

• P0261 Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low
• P0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance
• P0253 Code

The car was experiencing the following symptoms, and therefore fault codes were produced:

• Car was stalling
• Car would cut out whilst idling
• Engine was misfiring
• Car would cut out when applying power

The owner of the Mercedes vehicle went to several other garages before visiting us. He was told that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced, this was a wrong diagnosis that could have cost the owner thousands of pounds.

With the cost quoted being high the Mercedes owner decided to seek out one more garage, that turned out to be us. He explained the problem to which we advised we could perform a leak off test to determine the actual fault.

We found that there was nothing wrong with the high-pressure fuel pump, it was actually a faulty fuel injector that was causing the Mercedes vehicle to stall and misfire amongst other symptoms. We replaced the fuel injector and the car was cleared of all the fault codes and is now working perfectly, purring out on the road.
